Locomotive set with two Rm electric locomotives of the Swedish State Railways. ■ Original design ■ Prototypical front with replica of the automatic coupler ■ Both locomotives fully equipped ■ With switchable high beams and individually switchable headlight or taillight in digital mode As a replacement for the three-part electric locomotives with rod drive of the Dm3 group, six Rm 1257 - 1262 units based on the Rc4 were built in the 1970s for transporting ore on the Kiruna - Narvik line, with a higher weight, a different transmission and a lower maximum speed (only 100 instead of 135 km/h). Initially, the units were used in triple traction Rm+Rm+Rm; later the composition was changed to Rm+Rc4+Rm. However, the expected success did not materialize as desired, meaning that the proven Dm3s continued to haul ore trains and the Rm, after several conversions, were used as single units in regular freight train service.
